I take appropriate security measures to safeguard your data and apply security standards & controls to prevent any unauthorised access to it.

When you visit this website, I do not use cookies for collecting personal information and will not collect any information about you unless you contact me by email, telephone or by post. If you send me an email message or complete an on-line form, your email/postal address and any information you provide is used to deal with and respond to your query or comments. This information will only be disclosed to me in order to deal with or respond to your message. Please let me know if you would prefer that I did not store such data in your case.

1. to carry out my obligations arising from any contracts entered into between us relating to counselling, supervision, mentoring and facilitation consultations and to provide you with the information and services that you request from me;

Information I collect about you in a counselling session and how it is used
​
Upon starting counselling, basic personal information will be collected for contact and identification reasons. During counselling meetings, an assessment of your psychological health will be completed, and hand written notes will be taken after sessions. These may include personal and sensitive details about your life. The assessment and notes are used solely for the delivery of a therapy service to you.

Your therapy and personal information is kept securely. Information but not names will be shared with my supervisor who is accredited and who regularly reviews my practice. Confidentiality will be broken if I have concerns that you or anyone else is at risk. If this occurs it will be discussed in the session where possible, and actions or recommendations will be discussed and documented in your notes.

Information that is disclosed to other parties is only upon commencement of a therapy contract and on the conditions as specified in the

During the supervision sessions, themes, specific focus and process notes will be taken. The notes are used solely for the delivery of a supervision service to you.

Where I store your personal data

Once I have received your information, I will use strict procedures to protect your data on my systems.

Your rights
​
Your personal data will not be used for marketing purposes, nor shared with any third parties. I will not share any of your confidential medical information with any third parties unless I am instructed or permitted to do so by you or are required to do so by law.
You have rights relating to the information I hold to verify the accuracy or to ask for them to be supplemented, deleted, updated or corrected. You have the right to request a copy of the information that I hold about you. If you would like a copy of some or all of your personal information, please email or write to me via the contact details stated on this website. Information will be provided to you within 30 days. I want to make sure that your information is accurate and up to date. You may ask me to correct or remove information you think is inaccurate. You have a right to request the transfer of your data to another individual or company.

Sharing of data

I store client contact details on my personal computer, which requires a password before data can be accessed. Please let me know if you would prefer that I did not keep such data in your case. Your contact details are only seen by me. I use conventional domestic email, which like all such services is not specially encrypted. If you are concerned about the breaches of privacy that might potentially occur in any such system, then please do not mail sensitive information, or choose an alternative means of communication. Call me on 07934 712730 if you prefer. On rare occasions where your information needs to be shared with 3rd parties, I will explicitly ask your consent before doing so, and the data will be sent to 3rd parties securely.

Security of your data

Information will be kept securely and confidentially in line with the data retention policy as stated above. All paper notes are kept in a secure, filing cabinet and stored within a secure building. All digital information is stored on a single domestic computer, which is password protected and stored within a secure building. My mobile phone is encrypted.

Lawful basis for processing your information

The lawful basis for my holding and using your information is in relation to the delivery of a contract to you as a health care professional. As a member BACP, I operate under a strict code of confidentiality.
